The PH 3½-2½ Glass Table Lamp, crafted by Poul Henningsen in 1928, epitomizes his revolutionary three-shade system introduced in 1926. Henningsen dedicated much of his life to refining electric light, creating his three-shade design based on a logarithmic spiral to maximize light utilization. This design underwent continuous calculations and experiments to achieve its purpose. The shape of the shades was meticulously engineered to direct and diffuse light effectively, ensuring a glare-free experience. Originally launched in early 1927 as a stylish alternative to low-hanging lamps, this lamp features white opal glass shades that emit a soft, even light. These shades are made from triple-layered mouth-blown opal glass, finished with a glossy exterior and a sandblasted matte underside, enhancing the lamp’s ability to provide a seamless and uniformly distributed light, characteristic of the iconic three-shade system.
